Wings Over Namibia

This 9 night safari, features the best of Namibia, including Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha.

Day 1

Depart from Windhoek as your flight takes you over the great Escarpment into the vicinity of Sossusvlei, an area in the Namib Desert marked by some of the highest dunes on earth. After landing you are transferred by vehicle to your lodge. The Sossus Dune Lodge is located in the Namib Nakluft Park. The lodge is built in an environmentally sensitive manner, primarily from wood, canvas and thatch, in an attractive ‘afro-village’ style. Late afternoon game viewing drive.

Day 2

Enjoy a full day in the Namib Nakluft Park, home to all forms of desert wildlife near the spectacular sights of Sossusvlei. Visit the Sossusvlei dunes, which rise dramatically more than 300 yards and are surrounded by awe-inspiring topography. Emphasis is laid on the smaller desert fauna, spectacular scenery and the incredible night sky. Larger desert-adapted wildlife such as ostrich, springbok and gemsbok flourish here with carnivores such as bat-eared fox, Cape fox, cheetah and black-backed jackal.

Discover the abundant life in this ostensibly desolate landscape.

Day 5

Breakfast and morning at leisure. Early afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight north into Damaraland, an area marked by steep mountain massifs that tower over meandering riverbeds and form the survival structure for Desert Elephant, Black Rhino and a myriad of free-roaming antelope species. Your lodge is situated in close vicinity to the geological attractions that may be visited in the afternoon or during the morning of the next day. The highlight of these attractions, Twyfelfontein, represents Namibia’s only world heritage site and belongs to one of the world’s largest rock-art sites.
